Presbyopia Management

This module will provide an advanced and updated overview of different techniques and technologies for managing presbyopia in 2020.  The aim of this session is to provide corneal and cataract refractive surgeons an overview of possible treatment options with detailed description of all aspects of the procedures.
The session will introduce the concept of a corneal refractive procedure that increases depth of field by using a non-linear aspheric ablation profile to induce a controlled amount of spherical aberration. It is designed to be combined
with micro-monovision, which targets the non-dominant eye up to -1.5 D myopia. The amount of anisometropia is individualized according to the patient’s age, degree of presbyopia, and tolerance.
Furthermore, the session will provide details and outcomes with different IOL technologies as well as a discussion of techniques to effectively mix-and-match lens options. A mix-and-match technique can be employed to provide an improved range of vision while limiting potential side-effects and unwanted visual phenomena. The faculty will share their approaches and assessments to maximize success in adjusting lens selection options to meet patient expactations in refractive cataract surgery.
